Spitting Image

Everyone always talks about who the baby looks like. Some say mother, some say father, even some say neither. Well, I have heard a lot about how Jaxen looks so much like his GRANDPA. Mimi has said from the get-go how much Jaxen looks like my dad Carl. Well, the other day when we were at her house, we pulled out a picture of my dad when he was only a few years old. I just happen to have a picture of Jaxen in a similar pose saved to my phone (curtisy of Carla's blog). It is ridiculous how much they DO LOOK ALIKE. Wow! Carla this post is for you. You aren't here to gasp with us but maybe this will do the trick. I couldn't believe it - so without further ado:

So, what do you think? I tried to get them side by side but I couldn't. Do you see it?

Trying To Keep Up

So, I thought if I could do 1 blog for every 2 blogs that my sister wrote I would be doing excellent at this. Well guess what!?!? I am FAILING. I just counted and she has 7 since my last one. Wish I had a cute baby to blog about all of the time!!! My baby is not little and he gets upset when he finds out I have mentioned him in my blog. (Well, until he reads it - then of course he is offended because it wasn't all about him! Go figure).

Anyway, I got to spend some time with some of my family not this past weekend but the weekend before. We enjoyed ourselves. So, here are some pictures that I snapped quickly (mainly for my sister). By the way Carla - you were missed. And in your honor - I showed off the video of Jaxen walking. Everyone oooohhhhhed and aaaaahhhhhhhhhed!

Here is Rodney and Lisa just chillaxin'.
And Aubrey, Kayla, and Lindsey
Mimi and Courtney

Here is a picture of Taunya and Ken - Yes that is a real baby - NO! IT IS NOT THIERS - HA HA.

Of course there is a picture of Brennen. I was surprised he let me take it - usually he yells, "NO MOM!" and then hides his head and face. Carla - you are lucky he is not your child, as many pictures as you take - well, really I guess Brenn is the lucky one.

Here is Aubrey and Derek. Surprised Aiden is not with them. They were like the 3 musketeers. Every time you saw one of them this weekend you saw the other two.

Oh wait! Here you go. Aubrey and AJ

Here is a picture of Shawn just hanging out

And Kaitlin

And last but not least, here is a picture of Ella sporting a headband that Lisa had made for her and Kayla

We had a great visit with everyone. It was really cool to see everyone's kids there. The only kid we were missing was Riliegh. I absolutely love going to visit Rodney and Lisa. I am already looking forward to next time.

CUT MY HEAD OFF!

Wow! The end of my week and my weekend were pretty rough. I got a pretty bad headache last Sunday. I figured it was from being totally exhausted from all of the traveling I had done on Friday and Saturday. So, I spent the day sleeping. But on Monday, it was still there. A little better but still there. It stayed with me off and on all week. By Friday I had tried every kind of medication I had. When none of those were working, I tried to get into the doctor. Usually, when my headaches get this bad and won't go away, I can get the doctor to give me a shot. Honestly, I don't know what is in the shot but it puts me to bed all day and when I wake, my headache is gone - 90% of the time. The other 10% of the time it takes a trip to the ER and a series of shots from there. Anyway, haven't been to the ER in almost a year - trying to avoid that at all costs. So, anyway, called the doctor on Friday - of course, the doctor is out till the 23rd. So, I try to get in to the see the nurse thinking she can get the shot okayed by another doctor (in the same office). Nope - she is off on Fridays! You have to be kidding me! Then I am reminded that I can't really get upset because I don't work on Fridays either. Granted - the one person whose well-being depends on me is being taken care of by someone in my place!

This is when it dawned on me that Doctors are allowed days off but they should have someone cover for them. Not like on-call with on call rates but like 2 doctors share the same patient load but work opposite days. See - always accessible. But that is not the case. So, still trying to avoid the emergency room although I am now expecting it by the end of the weekend, I try to relax on Friday.

On Saturday, after having lunch with Mom and Mimi I took some different medication and then slept. When I woke the headache was but an afterburn. Oh thank goodness! On Sunday I woke feeling well.

Well enough that I spent the morning pulling weeds and cleaning up doggie doodoo. YUCK! Then I slept some more. Guess what - YUP! Headache is back. I got to really thinking about it and I haven't really been having problems with my headaches lately. This winter I did really well with them - but in the last 2 months they are getting a lot more frequent. The more I think about it - it was this time last year that I did my HEADACHE journal. I was having TONS of bad ones. Makes me wonder if it is the season or something about this time of year that is triggering them.

I really do try not to complain about them much. Especially because so many of my loved ones from BOTH sides of the family suffer with headaches WAY WORSE THAN MINE. I can usually catch mine before they get too bad. But this last week this one has been making me sick to my stomach and dizzy. I am chugging along - but painfully. Hope this week finds you all doing well.

Poor Houston

Earlier this week poor Houston had to spend the night at the vet's office. He will be a year old next month so we decided it was time. "Time for what" you ask. Time to get neutered. Yup. The day before I took him in I spent some extra time with him out in the yard. We played ball and fetch. I snapped a few shots of him.

Isn't he cute?! Anyway, I took him in on Tuedsay morning and he had his surgery. By lunchtime he was resting. But they kept him for observations over night. On Wednesday morning I returned to pick him up.

He has to return in 10 days to get the stitches out - but other than that he is doing well.

As big of a pain as he is in my neck - I do love him.

Easter Weekend

My Easter weekend started out by taking Brennen to meet Mamaw in Synder, TX. He is spending his Spring Break with her this year. All though I am kinda sad that he is not here I am very grateful that he is with her. I can remember when we used to go and stay for the week with Mamaw and Papaw. That was a special time and I want him to have that as well. We were counting it up and I think it has been about 4 years since Brennen has spent time with in Dublin “by his self”. I am so glad that Mamaw is still up to keeping him.

On Saturday, I drove to Artesia to take Amber to work. After returning home I went back to bed and slept until about 10am. I then laid in bed and watched television until about 2pm. I don’t get a chance to do this very often but I was exhausted. I am currently watching the show Parenthood. I usually don’t get too emotional but on this day I laughed out loud and shed tears. It was a very peaceful morning.

Saturday afternoon I ended up at my Mom’s. (I haven’t been over since the 16th and I really think Scotty was missing me! Ha Ha!) So, after catching up for only a few minutes, Scotty pulled out the Marbles! YUP! You guessed it. We then played Marbles until 9:30pm. This is standard for us. Once we get started keeping score……IT’S ALL OVER WITH. We don’t stop to the very last of our time is up. (I say as I chuckle to myself).

Easter Morning I took some special alone time to give Thanks to the Lord for such a reason to celebrate. Thanked him for allowing a way to be with not only Him but also with my Dad and Papaw again. I then lazed around until about 10am. After showering and dressing I left the house. I went and told the girls Happy Easter and then contemplated on the rest of my plans. Amber was at work and Brenn was in Dublin. I had several invites to Easter lunch but truthfully just didn’t really feel like being around a whole lot of people. Then it hit me……SPARKLING GRAPE JUICE. I knew I had to have it. To Wal-Mart I went. Upon walking in the door I saw all of the beautiful Easter flowers. It hit me at that moment. I wanted to take Easter flowers to EVERYONE! With bottle of sparkling grape juice in hand and some Easter bouquets I headed to Mimi’s house.

I got to spend some time with Mimi, Lindsey, and the kiddos. Aiden took right to me and the girls are just as sweet as always. I enjoyed visiting with them. Here are a few pictures.

Ella (8)

Then I knew I had to sleep because I had to go to work later that night, so I made a short visit to my Mom’s and left her bouquet for her. Then home where I set up Amber’s Easter Candy Bouquet and then headed to bed. I slept till 9pm. I left to get Amber from work and then when we got home about midnight she and I had Easter dinner together. The end to a great day. Then off to work.
