I am saddened to tell you that, again this week, my blog is picture less. I guess I just need to find some really cute things in my life to take pictures of. Too bad I don't have any cute little babies!!!!!
So, here I am wincing every time I swallow. But with every swallow this morning I am very grateful that I can breathe. This is the result of a steroid shot I received yesterday morning. Let me backup a little.....
Last week I really did think I was down for the count. This past weekend I did absolutely nothing but lay around in the living room, watch tv, and nap. Oh wait. One day I did heat frozen burritos for Brennen and I to eat and the next day I made macaroni and cheese to accompany some chicken Amber made for us. Poor bored Brennen. We did a lot of watching tv. By Sunday afternoon, we turned to the tv off and quizzed each other about what else we should do to no avail. Brennen ended up staying with me on Monday since he was out of school for Martin Luther King Day. We did drive to Artesia and after taking Amber to work I took Brennen out for the pizza buffet. By the drive home I was not feeling well. When I got home I napped for the rest of the afternoon till he went home. Brennen did so well, he just laid on the couch with me and entertained himself.
By Monday night I felt horrible but it was back to work anyway. I took it really easy at work. I went home and slept on Tuesday morning for a few hours. I then perked up. I felt pretty good Tuesday afternoon. I remained feeling better even after going to work. I really thought I was coming out of this dang SICKNESS. But guess what - by 4am I am BURNT TOAST again. I started counting my antibiotics. I only had enough to last another 24 hours. I still can't speak; My throat is still on fire; Can't swallow cause my throat is almost swollen shut; And I have started wheezing and can't hardly breathe. TIME TO GO BACK TO THE DOCTOR.
I saw the doctor today at 11. After being checked in and seeing that I had lost 6 pounds since last Monday (which is usually a good thing) the doctor said it is just a virus. But because the infection is really bad in my throat it is just taking a long time to kick it. She was worried about the amount of swelling and the wheezing. So, after a shot of a stronger antibiotic in one hip and a steroid shot in the other, I left with a prescription for antibiotics and tessla pearls (for congestion and cough spasms) called into the pharmacy.
After about an hour and a half I could breathe and swallow. That steroid took down 90% of the swelling in my throat. That was such a relief. So, once again, I feel like I am on the mend. It has been a very long 13 days.
On the other hand, Brennen got 3 A's and 4 C's on his report card. I was grateful not to see any D's this term. 2 of the C's were 78 and 79. He did have some other struggles last week at school that we are currently dealing with. I am weighing my instincts on these issues and really how to handle them. It is hard trying to determine what is going to benefit him best in the end. Especially when I am so sick that I can't really talk or think straight. So, like I said, I was glad to see Brennen's grades and will continue to deal with these other sticky situations.
Hope you are having a great week.
